A year after a tightly contested Liberty Cup victory against Columbia (0-1) on the road, the Rams (4-0) overpowered the Lions in front of over 7,000 at Jack Coffey Field, 52-7. And despite the score at half, 10-0, the game never seemed within reach for the Lions.
The Rams offense were keyed by Carlton Koonce on the ground, scoring two touchdowns in the red zone. Through the air, Brian Wetzel caught two touchdowns, while quarterback Michael Nebrich worked past a couple of turnovers to turn in another award worthy performance.
On defense, the Rams pitched a shut out for over 55 minutes, Ian Williams forced a fumble off a devastating corner blitz, which Brett Biestek recovered for the touchdown. Williams finished with six tackles, two forced fumbles, and Patriot League defensive player of the week honors.
This week, we welcomed Koonce and Williams to the show to talk about the Rams continued resurgence and the Liberty Cup. We also invited wide receivers coach Mark Dupuis, in his first year on Rose Hill, to explain the mystique surrounding his epic hair, and the play of his even more epic wideouts. As always, we had Joe Moorhead on to chart the course for the Rams week five opponent, Saint Francis.

The last time Fordham beat Villanova, Warren G. Harding was the president of the United States. The Rams snapped a 93 year losing streak to the Wildcats with an emotional 27-24 win over the eighth best team in the FCS. The win is hands down the biggest during the short two year tenure of head coach Joe Moorehead and more importantly keeps the Maroon and White undefeated at 2-0.
Fordham’s focus now shifts to Philadelphia as the Rams head to the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday to take on the 0-2 Temple Owls. After falling to FBS opponent Cincinnati last year in Ohio, the Maroon and White now knows what to expect when it comes to playing a big time atmosphere. Listen below to our One on One Post Game Report featuring an interview with head coach Joe Moorehead. |
